Mike Pence was saying denuclearization of the DPRK “would end like Libya”, a state that even the U.S. admits it’s responsible for destabilizing/ruining. The DPRK rightly calls Pence out on it, but now Trump has to cancel talks bc he’s so “offended” by them calling Pence a “dummy.” Mind you, the DPRK also released US hostages & destroyed a nuclear test site as a sign of good faith.

If Trump was truly committed to peace talks, he would be scolding his VP for saying that dumbass shit in the first place.

“human nature makes capitalism innevitable, capitalism is just the formal structuring of human self interest” is the shitty contemporary version of the feudal divine right of kings

Imagine, how thoroughly members of feudal society believed that their lords were divinely ordained, that serfdom was an expression of nature’s hierarchy through the chain of being. The idea that anything other than feudalism was possible was unthinkable.

Justifications for the innevitability of capitalism are not different, its just that now instead of god apointing rulers or beings being specifically ordered, we believe in the ultimate authority of the rugged individual and a social order that “human nature” makes inevitable.”

When you parrot the bourgeois propaganda of “human nature makes capitalism inevitable” you sound every bit as stupid and naive as the monarch who said “you can’t overthrow me, God put my in charge” seconds before the guillotine took off his head.

So between the white woman who called the cops on a black family having a BBQ in a park, the white man threatening to call ICE in nyc on Latina women for speaking Spanish, and a white woman literally yelling for the cops while screaming “gun!” on a black man for making a u turn in their neighborhood should educate us all that white people are realizing that institutional racism is real but they are using it for their own white supremacist social benefit.

They are calling for the authorities knowing that the cops will take their side and will either arrest or murder people of color for simply being seen or heard.

Student debt crisis watch: pay $18,000 of your $24,000 loan, owe $24,000

mostlysignssomeportents:

Kaitlin Cawley finished grad school with $95,000 in student loans, including a $24,000 variable-rate loan that started at 9.4% and now stands at 11%, a loan that the US government lender Sallie Mae brokered for her when she was 20.

Sallie Mae’s portal makes it almost impossible to find out how much you’ve paid into your loans; after a lengthy runaround, Cawley found that she had paid back $18,000 of her $24,000 loan, but that she still owed the full amount, thanks to sky-high interest and stiff penalties the government assessed against her because she opted to save tens of thousands of dollars by going to grad school outside of the USA.

Cawley comes from a working-class background and her family was not able to substantially offset the expense of her university. She attended anyone, convinced that postsecondary education was the path to social mobility. Despite an advanced degree, Cawley lives in relative penury, largely thanks to her student debt.

Americans owe $1.4 trillion in student debt. Student debts are largely not dischargeable through bankruptcy, and is the only form of debt that you can be forced to pay your Social Security into.

The President of the United States has declared bankruptcy six times. His university defrauded its students of millions of dollars, which they are still paying back. He enacted a policy that makes it impossible for defrauded students to escape their loans; while his Secretary of Education has killed the rules that prevented debt-collectors with a track-record of committing illegal acts from collecting student debts.

Last month, the student debt industry’s top expert was revealed to be an imaginary person, puppeted by industry executives.
